Until It Doesn't 5/3/2008 I bought the Zen V Plus because I wanted a player that could also record, something the iPods don't let you do. I discovered that it records at such a puny sound level that it's of very little use. That was fine, I still had a good mp3 player. But nope. After a few months, it suddenly locked up: none of the buttons would work. Not even the power button! There was no way to turn it off, and the battery wound down to nothing. Connecting it into my computer was no help, because the computer couldn't detect it. Creative's website has no troubleshooting tips, and neither does the owner's manual, so when your Zen Plus dies, it's gone, along with your money. I'll never buy anything from Creative again. Great idea, badly executed 4/28/2008 My wife bought this "Creative Zen V Plus" for me on my birthday (summer of 08'). I immediately found the product fairly easy to use and small (very portable). I especially like audio books, and downloading those big files onto this product worked good. The design, color and other parts of the design are great. However this is where the fun stopped. The little headphones have horrible sound quality, and I found another pair of headphone to increase the sound quality (adding to it's price). I also found the battery life to be quite short. Every time the unit shut down, it used a ton of battery power to restart it. At least with batteries you can keep yourself powered away from a computer, yet this unit requires a computer for recharging. So with the success I did have, my wife went back to the store and bought another "Creative ZEN MP3 Player" for herself. This second MP3 player did not work because it would not hold a charge. So while she was getting over her frustration, I took it back to he store and exchanged it for another. We brought it home and again this exchanged unit would not work as well. The video player inside would not work, and again my wife was frustrated and upset (to put it mildly). We brought the forth unit home (after another exchange) and this one would not charge or work outright. Now my wife was raging with fury and I can't blame her. How is it that a company can produce a product where 1 in 4 units actually work right? Does Creative have a quality control department? I cannot and will not suggest this product to anyone. Unless you like gambling and enjoy the return lines and drama that ensues, by all means, buy this product. We hope that Creative will honor their customers by making this major problem right with a product that works properly! Thank You. Was this review helpful?

When I tried to return in and purchase a more expensive one from Amazon, Amazon was just HORRIBLE! Since I opened the box, I would lose 50% of the unit price, lose the shipping charges and would pay for the shipping back to Amazon. I now have a unit that I'm VERY UNHAPPY WITH! Love the Zen 4/23/2008 I love this jukebox. Since the price dropped, i picked up 2 more. Since im not an Apple fan, these are a great alternative. The battery will last about 3 or so days if let it play through. Though, if you skip through song after song...battery life is about a day. In regards to the the player stopping in mid song...yeah it happens. But its that big of a deal for me. I updated the firmware...and it hasnt happened since. The software that comes with the zen is pretty good. The podcast thingy is good too. Ive already found some good music casts from it. Over all...im pretty happy with the zen. I recommend the zen to anyone who doesnt want an iPod Thank You. Was this review helpful?
GREAT DEAL AND PRODUCT, BUT FROZE ALREADY? 4/21/2008 This product has been great since I have owned it for about a month. Once I figured out how to use it and get it all set up with my computer and a music-to-go site it has been great. It just froze on me completely though and I am hoping it is just a firmware upgrade that is needed, had to restart the whole thing loosing all the music and pictures that I have put on. I'll be keeping my figures crossed that that fixes it! Overall, it is a good product, and at a great price at that. Thank You. Was this review helpful?
